Crew Accommodations Update June 12, 2008

For everyone flying SNN, as you know we have been experiencing unacceptable waits checking in, particularly on the weekends. As of this weekend, crews arriving in SNN on Saturday or Sunday will be going to a different hotel in Limerick (the one where we stayed originally at the inception of this service. This will be weekend crews only until July when all crews will be staying in Limerick.

As you know, many hotels are going to all non-smoking. I know some of you are unhappy about that, some thrilled. We can't please all the people all the time. As a reminder, your Union and your company have nothing to do with the hotels decision. Your contract language only guarantees you a NON-SMOKING room. If you decide to smoke in a non-smoking room, please remember, not only are you subjecting yourself to a $250.00 fine, or higher, you are also subjecting your fellow crewmembers to staying in a smoky room (since crew rooms are usually turned over to other crewmembers).

Now that summer is here we are all feeling the heat! We have had numerous complaints about air-conditioning not working in some hotels. This is truly unacceptable and none of us can be expected to endure these conditions. (Bad enough we put our passengers through it sitting on those baking aircraft) Please let us know if this is happening to you so we can address it in a timely manner (i.e., before winter)

Also, please let us know if any hotels or transportation companies are trying to squeeze more than the safe amount of crewmembers in vans. With gas prices climbing steadily, everyone is trying to tighten their belts (pardon the pun) but, we pay for transportation and should not have to endanger ourselves on the ride to or from the airport.

Thanks for all the positive reinforcement you have been giving your hotel committee. We're working hard so you can rest easy!
