Crew Accommodations Update May/June
For the second time in six weeks once again the company has informed
AFA and ALPA of their decision to select a property without any involvement
from ether labor group and like the company's ORD-Long facility, the BOS-Long
was chosen three days prior to our occupation and without a formal site
inspection being performed.
AFA and ALPA had recommended to the company during a March 20,21st site
inspection for BOS three downtown properties of which neither was chosen. AFA
feels that the suburban property that was selected by the company in BOS was
done so for pure economics due to the cost advantage of the suburbs verses a
downtown location and with no regard for the extended travel times that are
being placed on our crewmembers. AFA has advised the company regarding both
the ORD-Long and the BOS-Long selection that we will not endorse ether, should
the company be unwilling to re-evaluate these two recent decisions soon, AFA
will enter into the grievance process with both. We will continue to monitor
your comments and concerns regarding these two facilities via the OF-310
format, which can be accessed on the AFA web site or the HUB.
AFA continues to bring our current PHX-Long deficiencies to the company's
attention and has been assured that we will move our Long Ron's from the
current location back to the area that our former incumbent was located in.
This move, which should have already taken place, has been delayed due to an
unfinished restaurant renovation that the property is now under and should be
completed by July. AFA and ALPA have already completed a site inspection of
the facility and approves of its use.
Site Inspections Completions/Decisions
RDU /S- A site inspection was performed in this market in mid April due
to a room cap being placed by the incumbent on the amount of crew members that
would be allowed at the facility on a daily basis. Four properties were
visited, with two being recommended by AFA. The company selected one of the
two AFA recommended facilities effective June 1st along with the use of the
incumbent to the allowed maximum.
MXP /Milan- A site inspection was performed in this market in late
March. Nine properties were visited, with two being recommended by AFA and
ALPA. The company selected one of the two AFA and ALPA recommended facilities.
ARN /Stockholm- A site inspection was performed in this market in late
March. Four properties were visited, with two being recommended by AFA and
ALPA. The company selected one of the two AFA and ALPA recommended facilities.

referred to in this e-line will be posted on the AFA boards located in each
