Dear Members, The
following release was sent out by the company via CBS message
regarding the launch delay of the new uniform.
Uniform Update
One of the greatest strengths of our new uniform program is that
employees are allowed to order whatever garments they want from a
large selection of items. |
|
Typically in uniform change
outs employees receive a set uniform, i.e. 2 jackets, 5 pants, 5 shirts,
etc.
While this level of choice
is a strength it also creates a risk. Since we didn't require each
employee to take a set uniform, we ran the risk that some garments would
be more popular than we expected resulting in production shortages. We
are short on the following items and we will not be able to launch on
January 28 as originally planned:
1. White short sleeve
shirts / blouses
2. Sweaters / shells
3. Polos
TwinHill is working as quickly as possible to produce the remaining
quantity required to fill all 18,000 employee orders. However, we don't
expect to have enough inventories available for all orders until
early-April.
With this is in mind we are going to do a phased uniform launch, taking
advantage of our existing inventories to launch one group and wait for
the remaining production to launch the other.
Flight Attendants will roll-out first, with uniforms arriving in home
throughout the month of January and a launch date of Monday, March 3,
2008.
Additional clarification, male and female all-weather coats, raincoats
and winter scarves are in inventory now and will be ready for
changeover.
Customer Service will begin shipping in late January with all orders
filled by early April after all backorders have been filled. Launch will
be in late April 2008. An exact date will not be chosen until a shipping
confirmation has been received for all items. At this time it is
expected that Mesa (Phoenix Terminal 4), PSA & Piedmont will launch with
the Customer Service groups.
Please keep in mind that ONLY the launch date has been delayed. Uniform
pieces for the flight attendant group are being mailed to your homes at
this time. Although some backorder items was the primary cause for our
launch delay an added item of a potentially large cost savings could
also be achieved by delaying the launch for 30 days based on the number
of east flight attendants taking the separation package and east/west
flight attendants that have or will be retiring prior to March 01, 2008.
Now I know for some of you this is not the news you wanted to hear, but
the silver lining to this delay is that you will have more time to have
your uniforms altered and it may also alleviate some of the financial
burden from the holiday season.
Now for a happier subject...MATERNITY
For those of you that have been blessed with this miracle of miracles
and are or will be in need of maternity wear the procedures to obtain
maternity clothing is the same as it is now. Your supervisor will order
and provide you "loaner" items from the maternity collection. Upon
taking your leave you will need to return the loaner items, after they
have been cleaned, back to the in-flight department of your respective
base. Oh and by the way Congratulations!
Candi and I will continue to update you as any changes come about. As
always please don't hesitate to contact us or your local council chairs
if you have questions or to dispel any rumors that you hear along the
way.
On behalf of you
AFA-MEC/LEC Uniform committee we wish you a very happy and prosperous
New Year.
