Stan Herman - Bio
Three-time Coty award-winning designer Stan Herman is truly a pioneering man.  Not only was he the President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America for sixteen years, he was also the president of 7th on Sixth Corporation – the fashion shows in Bryant Park – for seven years.  In a new Venture with the Carol Hochman group, Stan has incorporated his ready-to-wear design savvy to become America’s foremost designer of robes and loungewear.  His comfortable, lifestyle driven products can be found on QVC, QVCUK, QVC Germany, and at leading retailers across the country.  After 13 years on air, he has built a return customer base of 300,000 people.  Furthermore, as the leading uniform designer in the world, his uniforms arguably cover more bodies than any other single designer.

As a pioneer in the industry, Stan popularized "fashion at a price" with his Mr. Mort label – a  label sought by hip vintage collectors today. When most designers were relegated to backrooms, he served as a spokesman for the creative side of the industry, championing designer names on labels, and watching out for the good of his colleagues. He was on the vanguard of designer boutiques with Saks Fifth Avenue and store designer partnerships with Henri Bendel's.

Mr. Herman pioneered the Designer Uniform.  His list of corporate clients includes many of the world's leading corporations: FedEx, United Airlines, TWA, McDonald's, Amtrak and jetBlue, Avis, Humana, RCCL, and Securitas along with Las Vegas Hotels including Paris, MGM Grand, Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay.  The list goes on. He recently designed the new image for FedEx internationally creating a look to keep them continually fresh and innovative, and is currently designing the new uniform for US Airways.

As a pioneer in innovative design, Stan was the first to develop and patent a non-opening hospital gown, lauded in The Wall Street Journal and by the industry!  He presented the first walking shorts to the corporate world, and the first knitted shirts to meet the quality demands of uniform wearability.  Stan's pioneering attitude revolutionized the uniform industry as well.

As a pioneer in designer activism, Stan showed support for the rights of animals by being the first to commercialize faux fur and raise funds to benefit the Central Park Zoo with his first showing of that line.  He has served on various New York community boards to enhance the lives of the city's residents – the Bryant Park Restoration Corporation, The Fashion BID. As President of the CFDA, Stan was instrumental in their humanitarian fund raising efforts.  The launch of "Fashion Targets Breast Cancer" and ongoing efforts have raised over 10 million dollars for research.  Additionally, under his direction, the CFDA has been a leader in benefiting education and fighting AIDS by raising over 12 million dollars for research.

He has recently been honored with lifetime achievement awards from the Dallas Market for his career in fashion, GMHC for his pioneering efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and by the CFDA for his commitment to the advancement of American Fashion.

We can only imagine what his next frontiers will be.
