A. Yes, in this case you can split for an OFF
(non-inviolable) day. You are not legal to
fly on day seven; therefore, you will be allowed (at your
option) to split a trip when Scheduling gets to you during the
first pass through Future reserve processing. Basically, you
will be treated as if your OFF day is an
INV day because you are
not legal on day seven. Such split will be allowed when
coverage is “adequate or inadequate”. Select a pairing to
split in domicile or in a domicile in the same time zone in
the continental United States as your domicile or select a
pairing to split in any station.
In this case you are "Not splitting for days
OFF" you are splitting for the F.A.A. mandated rest
requirements for all Flight Attendants which must be observed
and supersedes the
contract.
TIME AWAY FROM BASE (TAFB)
Actual
pairing
Putting
in a claim for Time away from base (T.A.F.B.)
To calculate go to screen 23 (Calculator):
Ex :
1) Pairing 18343
originating on April 2
TAFB
=79+57 Pay 17+26
- 7957/3.5 = 22+51
- 22+51 -17+26 = 5+25
- DH
2+43 + 17+26 = 20+09
Subtract T.A.F.B. amount 22+51- 20+09= 2+42
- Please note: The scheduled
DH is in the pairing; the
Claims Department will make the necessary adjustment.
The only time to include is the "T.A.F.B."
equation minus the "trip pay" the claims department will
make the necessary adjustment. Comments screen: please put
"Per grievance award" only. The claims department will do
the math. This example just shows
how it is calculated.
Please note if you have been denied the
option to split a trip for an
NFL day please file a claim with date time Scheduler.
Reserves may also fly a trip that terminates prior to the
NFL day or, if no such
trips exist, may either ROC
(Remain on Call) or split a trip for their
NFL day.
