OPR Phone Coverage

When sitting OPR duty you must be available at first contact, either from the crew room OPR phone or your personal contact "cell" phone, from scheduling as you are considered on duty. The 15 minute response time does not apply to flight attendants sitting OPR. Failure to respond can result in a dependability infraction.

Dead Heading Out of Base Assignment

When reserves are used to cover out of base OPR a trip is created that contains the DH to/from and the OPR period. Essentially this becomes a one day trip. The DH is credited at 50% pay no credit and the credited time is calculated using 1-2.25 if you return to domicile on the same day or 1-3.5 for two or more days. If you are assigned a trip while sitting OPR then the pay is recalculated to reflect the proper rigs necessary.

NON REV BOARDING METHOD

During yesterday's State of the Airline presentation Doug Parker revealed the Company had made the decision regarding Date of Hire vs. First Come First Serve for non revenue boarding. Although the new policy is weighted toward seniority, the policy is, in effect, a hybrid version of both of the former policies.

The new policy is based on YEAR of hire rather than true date of hire. READ MORE

Q & A

Q: I was wrongfully denied a trip on the ETB. Can I submit a claim?

A: Sorry no, you can not submit a claim due to an ETB error. ETB trips are paid above guarantee and are pay no credit. Therefore they can not be claimed.

Q: I was assigned OPR in BOS. Is the DH considered unscheduled at full pay/credit or scheduled at 50%?

A: Such DH is paid at 50% pay no credit, but as a reserve your DH is paid above your guarantee.

Q: I was assigned a trip out of base and was scheduled to DH on an Express carrier. The plane was a turbo prop. Can Scheduling do that?

A: A Flight Attendant shall deadhead only on a certified 121 aircraft, except with consent of that individual flight attendant. 121 aircraft are all mainline and US Airways express aircraft including the Embraer 170, 145, the CRJ series and the Dash 8.
