Local 70 Reserve Update
January 10, 2006

Issues:

  • RESERVE OUT OF BASE

This E-line is one of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE for reserves. Over the past few months this Local Council has attended more termination meetings than we care to count and one of the underlying themes is ROB (Reserve Out of Base). You may ask what is triggering these events and we can tell you that the company takes this issue extremely seriously. The company is pulling travel records on anything that looks suspicious while on duty such as No Contacts, Holiday Sick Calls, Sick on Contact, and other infractions. All it takes is 1 infraction for your supervisor to begin investigating your travel record. Our contract states that you must live within 90 minutes of surface transportation while on duty and while it's hard to sit in base while not flying, it's not worth the price of your job. We here at AFA care too much about the membership not to warn you about the seriousness of being out of base.

We urge you to please not play the game of Russian Roulette and be out of base while on duty because it will cost you your job. If you need assistance please call us here at the AFA office and we will try our very best to work with you.

Travel Policy Q&A

Q: Can you explain the registered guest program?

A: Yes, this is a program that allows an unmarried employee who does not have an eligible domestic partner to select one person annually (once selected, you are stuck with the registered traveler for the year; you can change your registered traveler each year). That registered traveler then travels at the employee’s boarding priority as a non-rev.
