  • Happy Thanksgiving

Dear PHL Flight Attendants,

I just wanted to send out a short e-line and wish you all a Very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving. The Union office will be closed this Holiday, but as usual we can all be reached on our cell phones in the case of an emergency. I will be monitoring the voice mail for the entire weekend, and will get back to you if necessary prior to Monday.

Remember if you have a trip and trip improve, to touch all weekend days to avoid getting an illegal trip improving. I was thinking back to the summer when I wrote an e-line telling all the reserves that things would get better. Back then; it was because everyone was working so many hours. Now, no one can to get his or her time in. It seems the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction. And through it all, there still seems to be lots and lots of open time. Now the open time is all around the Holiday's and there is not enough time in the beginning or middle of each month to make more lines.

We are still losing airplanes at the rate of about 5 or so each month and will continue until February. December we have more people returning from their leaves and about the same amount going out on leaves and retiring. The Company still owes us 323 VFLR's for sometime between December 2, 2005 and December 1, 2006.

Our biggest problem is the fact that we are stagnant, meaning we aren't adding flights. Hopefully, we will start to grow after the integration (which could take up to 2 years) and that should ease up on the stagnation.

In the mean time, let's all try to be kind to each other. And treat our passengers, as we would like to be treated. We can make it or break it with their traveling experience. Let's show them what a full service Low Cost Carrier really is!

Have a great weekend, wherever you are and whenever you celebrate Thanksgiving, may it be with those you love!
