In This Issue - "NEWSLINE 70 - AFA Resolution"

November 16, 2004

PHL Flying Partners:

Today, US Airways Council 40 introduced the following resolution to the AFA Board of Directors, which is made up of every Local Council President. After receiving a second from US Airways Council 70, the Board of Directors UNANIMOUSLY approved this resolution.

WHEREAS the 31st Annual AFA Board of Directors recognizes that abrogation of the collective bargaining agreement of one AFA flight group is a threat to all of our contracts, and a threat to our very careers; and,

WHEREAS the current assault by airline management has evolved from seeking to cut costs on the basis of proven economic need to a destructive 'race to the bottom' that threatens to cause the collapse of wages, benefits and working conditions across the industry and around the world; and,

WHEREAS the bankruptcy process has emboldened airline management to use the court process to achieve cost reductions that are unfair and unnecessary,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors declares that an attack on one of our contracts is an attack on all of our contracts; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that when any company, with our without the approval of a bankruptcy court, abrogates an AFA contract AFA will initiate a CHAOS™ strike, subject to a strike vote by the AFA members at that airline; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in the event of such strike, the Board of Directors calls on all AFA members, and all flight attendants across the country, to support that effort with nationwide protests and an industry-wide secondary strike properly authorized by the Union at each of those carriers; and,

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this Board of Directors calls on all non-AFA flight attendants, and all airline employees, regardless of job category and airline, to join in solidarity with our strike as we stand up together against the greed of airline management. Through this extraordinary effort we seek nothing less than to prevent the destruction of our careers and our industry.

Take care, and fly safe!

Mollie McCarthy
