Dear PHL Flight Attendants,

NEW FAA RULE 24/7

By now, you most of you have read the MEC e-line that went out on Friday about the FAA ruling on Reserve 24/7. On Wednesday and Thursday, the MEC held a Special Meeting in PIT to discuss the ramifications of this ruling by the FAA.

The impact on all of us could truly be devastating, with the brunt of the financial devastation on the Reserves. AFA has met with the Company and will continue to meet to come up with short term and long term solutions to the current problems and how it affects Reserves picking up ETB trips on their days off.

When you bid for October, you must be aware that whether you fly or not, you cannot work on your 7th day. This means if you have 6 days on call and have three days off, you can only pick up a one day trip on the middle day of those three days. This also impacts how you are utilized by scheduling. If you are on for 6 days, have not been used for 4, you can only do a 2 day. There can be no more voluntary or involuntary flying into your days off if it goes into the 7th day. The trips must be split to utilize you.

The meeting last week was a brain storming meeting with the MEC and Sherry Baker (MEC Reserve Chair). Next week, Mike Flores and Carol Austin along with Sherry will take the ideas your MEC has come up with to the Company.

As soon as we learn more, we will send out additional e-lines. This impacts all bases, so the MEC President will be putting out e-lines as new information is learned, as will I.
