Hello Everyone,
|
In this Issue...
PHL E-Line June 4,
2009
JULY
BLOCK TIME
The total number of block positions for July
is as follows:
1,425 Primary positions + 164 Secondary
lines + 4 LOD/O lines = 1,593 total
positions for July. There were 1,600 total
for June, so there was a decrease of 7
positions. The PHL head count for July is
down 8. The Secondary lines were built to a
15.5% reserve factor, just as it was in
June.
EXTENDED ONBOARD DELAY PROCEDURES
Please make sure to review the Extended
Onboard Delay Procedures handout which is
located on the Inflight Services page of the
Hub under Service Information. We’ve seen
some rather lengthy delays on our Eastbound
Transatlantic flights. On one recent delay,
the agent asked the flight attendants if
they would serve the passengers meals while
at the gate. The flight attendants
responded, correctly, that no, they would
not serve meals while at the gate. Service
carts are never permitted in the aisle/s at
any time while on the ground. Furthermore,
alcohol is not to be served in coach while
on the ground during these delays. If
working Envoy Class, you would continue to
serve pre-departure sparkling wine. If you
need more, and you are still at the gate,
request catering be contacted. The company
is reviewing this procedure since alcoholic
beverages are allowed in First Class on
domestic ground delays, except while on the
ground in Florida and Canada. Remember that
alcohol is never served on the ground or
in-flight on flights to/from New Mexico. Go
to the Hub, click on Divisions, then
Inflight Services and once there, click on
Service Information.
AFA-CWA MEMBERSHIP CARD
By now, you should have received your
AFA-CWA membership card. If there are any
errors on the card, or if you received the
wrong card, please contact the local council
office at 215-492-0840 and we will make
arrangements for you to receive your new and
correct membership card.
PAY PROTECTION WHEN SKIPPED BY SCHEDULING
If Scheduling skips you when you are trying
to pick up a 1-day, red-eye, all-nighter or
international trip, you are pay-protected
for the value of the trip because there are
no ‘like’ trips. ‘Like’ trips, as defined in
the contract on 9-36, line 12, are
“comparable check-in/out times, number of
legs, on duty hours, etc.” There have been
several instances in which a scheduler told
a flight attendant that they would only be
pay-protected for the first day of a trip
when skipped for one of the above mentioned
trips and the scheduler would then tell the
flight attendant they must go on the AIL the
next day. This is not true and please
remember, a scheduler works in scheduling,
not claims. If you believe the information
you are getting from the scheduler is not
correct, ask to speak to a scheduling
supervisor.
PAYROLL SURVEY
Last month, the company had a survey in
which you could express your opinion as to
whether or not you would like to continue to
receive your pay stubs via U.S. mail or, if
you would rather access them online. This
information was in the May 21 edition of US
Daily, which said the survey was open for
three weeks, but it closed on May 29.
Several members called after the deadline
wanting to voice their opinion on the
subject. I have asked Hector Adler, VP –
Inflight Services if the company would be
willing to reopen the survey for at least
two weeks to get more feedback from the
flight attendants. Meanwhile, if you have an
opinion, please send your name, employee
number and whether you would like to
continue to receive your pay stubs via U.S.
mail or online to:
council70@afausairways.org and I will
forward these to the appropriate department
to ensure your voice is heard.
