I just wanted to touch base with you on a couple of issues of interest.
POSITION SELECTION ON AN ORIGINATING TRIP PAIRING and POSITION WHEN SPLITTING ON TO A
TRIP.
There seems to be a great deal of misunderstanding as to when seniority can be exercised in choosing a position (A, B, C etc).
First of all this issue is addressed in your May 2000 copy of the Flight Attendant Agreement Section 9-25 L1-2. In regard to an originating trip the ONLY position guaranteed (not subject to seniority on the airplane) is that of a Flight Attendant who was awarded that particular position in his/her PRIMARY line. While the 2000 agreement speaks to the same policy in regard to a SAP or Secondary line, that language was changed due to the fact the computer system was not able to program accordingly. This was amended in a side letter dated Oct. 23, 2000 signed by Lynn Lenosky, then MEC President, and agreed to by the MEC. To simplify this process always remember the F/A holding a position in his/her PRIMARY line is guaranteed that position if they so choose to retain that position. All the remaining positions on that trip will be
STRICTLY BY SENIORITY.
When splitting on to a trip which has already originated the Flight Attendant splitting on will fill the position that is vacated by the Flight Attendant splitting off,
regardless of what position is offered through Crew Scheduling. Crew Scheduling has no way to determine what positions were adjusted at the time of origination of that trip.
