Transatlantic F/A Illnesses on A330's

If you or a flight attendant you know has suffered from the following symptoms working the A330, please contact Nancy Gilmer at ngilmer@afausairways.org or at 301-912-1223.

     Light-headedness/dizziness, severe headache, nausea, associated with;

     o Tingling of extremities
     o Disorientation
     o Impaired mental abilities
     o Impaired muscle control/twitching
     o Tunnel vision
     o Increased salivation
     o Euphoria

We need written documentation of incidents in which F/As have experienced the above symptoms (flight#, date, city pair, aircraft #).

Cabin Curtains – Opened or Closed?

We appreciate the responses we got from flight attendants on this subject.  Please understand that the position taken was based on the consensus of the AFA Safety & Health Committee.  If you have not shared your opinion with us, either for or against the new policy of closing the curtain, please respond to this e-line message.

For those flight attendants who believe that the curtain should remain open for security reasons, we have the following recommendation:  If, as a cabin crew, you agree that the curtain should be open, ask your Captain if he/she will allow it.  FAR 91.3 gives the Captain the final authority in the operation of the flight.
