RESERVE MEDIATION/ARBITRATION
The MEC voted to accept the advisory opinion issued by the
mediator. The methodology used for time balancing (using hours
and minutes or percentages) will be determined at the
arbitration that will take place on October 7, 2003. Highlights
of the new reserve system:
Trips will be awarded on the basis of time balancing;
Reserves will no longer be able to pass but in certain cases
will be able to or required to remain on call without accepting
a trip;
Reserves will have options and in some cases be allowed to split
trips for non-inviolable off days;
Reserves will be automatically released upon trip
award/assignment except in the case of irregular operations;
ITD Reserves will be released upon award/assignment when the
number of days available prior to inviolable off days is less
than the shortest trip in their ITD;
Quick calls will be administered as they are today. Volunteers
will be honored in seniority order. Assignments will be in
inverse order of seniority;
OPR - Offered in time balancing order. Once all trips have been
selected and nothing remains but OPR assignments, OPR will be
assigned to the next reserve on the time balancing list legal
for the assignment. Once on OPR duty, trip selection among OPR's
will be based on seniority;
Assignments to TDY - Volunteers awarded by seniority.
Assignments by inverse order of seniority. Once in the TDY
domicile, TDY reserves will be processed after reserves in the
domicile in time-balanced order. Quick calls - volunteers in
seniority order and assignments in inverse order of seniority.
Once we have the award from the arbitrator on how time balancing
will be administered, we will provide you with that information.

SICK OCCURRENCES - MEDICAL LEAVES
The Company has taken the position that if you are out sick for
more than 14 days, you are placed on a Medical Leave of Absence.
AFA does not agree with this and has filed a grievance. If you
are contacted by your supervisor due to being sick for more than
14 days or by an employee of the Medical Management Services
Department, please contact your local AFA office. If you are
required to go to a doctor by the Company, the Company is
required to reimburse you for that doctor's visit in accordance
with Sec.8.H.2. of the Flight Attendant Agreement.
VACATION BIDS REMAIN OPEN UNTIL OCTOBER 5, 2003
The Company did not post the vacation matrices in accordance
with Section 7 of the contract, therefore, they have agreed to
delay closing of the vacation bids until 11:59 PM on Sunday,
October 5, 2003. The vacation matrices are posted in the crew
lounges. If you do not want to change your vacation bid, you
need not do anything. This delay in the vacation bid closing
will not delay the award of round 1 vacation for 2004 or the
opening and closing of round 2 vacation bids.

Student Verification Clarification
Employees with dependents between the ages of 19 and
23 will receive a follow-up letter from the US Airways
BenefitCenter regarding the status of their dependent's
health care coverage. During the month of August,
letters regarding annual student verification were
mailed to eligible employee's homes. The letter
outlined the process for employees to confirm
eligibility for dependent student(s) or request their
removal from coverage due to lack of eligibility. As
previously communicated, benefits coverage for
ineligible employee dependents - those who are no
longer full-time students or those who did not respond
to the previous mailing -- was terminated on Aug. 31.
Employees who did not respond to the previous mailing
are advised to contact the BenefitCenter before Oct. 8.
Employees should disregard the upcoming notice if they
have notified the BenefitCenter within the past two
weeks that their dependent should still be considered a
full time student. Employees are encouraged to check
the status of their dependent on the Web at
www.usairways.benefitcenter.com. If you have questions,
call the US Airways BenefitCenter at 1-800-872-4780,
prompt number one. If your child is no longer a full
time student and you wish to continue health care
coverage under the provisions of the Consolidated
Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) follow the
instructions included in the letter sent to your child
regarding their option to continue coverage as an
individual participant through COBRA. Questions about
COBRA coverage should be directed to CobraServ/Ceridian, the
COBRA administrator, at 1-877-504-4052.
