PBGC NOTICE OF FINAL DETERMINATION
The PBGC has mailed out to all US Airways flight attendant their notice
of final determination,. The amount of money shown on this statement is
what the PBGC has determined to be your final pension benefit. If you do
not agree with the PBGC you have 45 days to put in writing your concerns
about what you pension should actually be. You must have backup
documentation to show your best 3 out of 10 years between January 1995
and December 2004, date of hire as a flight attendant, etc.
The Social Security offset is already in the calculation. Remember that
the Social Security offset is only a stepdown in the formula that allows
for the person who is age 62, and/or spouse if married, to begin to
receive Social Security whether they take the Social Security at that
time or not. The Social Security offset has nothing to do with the
actual amount of money you are to receive from Social Security.
If you add what the PBGC is going to pay you and what Social Security
says they will pay you that is amount of money you will have to live on
when you retire. This does not include income form other sources such as
401K, defined contribution program, IRA's and other investments you may
have.
