Dear Members,

Just a reminder from your AFA MEC EAP and ASHS Chairpersons!

Work and Conduct Rules-US Airways Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program

US Airways prohibits any employee from reporting for duty or remaining on duty while having a breath alcohol concentration level of 0.02 or higher. Any employee who violates this standard will be disciplined as follows:

  • Any confirmed breath alcohol test of 0.02 or higher will result in immediate removal from duty and other discipline up to and including termination.

  • Regardless of the result of the breath alcohol test or, if for reasons beyond the Company's control a test is not administered, the Company reserves the right to take disciplinary action based on the conduct of the employee.

On Duty Use

Employees are prohibited from consuming alcohol at times while on duty and are prohibited from consuming alcohol or being impaired in public, on or off duty, while in uniform.

Note
Pursuant to US Airways' policy, a deadheading crewmember or flight attendant shall be considered "available to perform" safety sensitive functions and, accordingly, shall be prohibited from consuming alcohol while deadheading and for twelve (12) hours prior to commencement of such duty period.

Pre Duty Use

Flight attendants, including those who are on call or reserve status, may not consume alcohol within twelve (12) hours of the actual time their next duty period or shift begins.

Refusal to Submit To or Interference with Substance Abuse Testing

Any employee who intentionally refuses to submit to testing, fails to appear for testing within the time required by US Airways, tampers with a substance abuse test, fails to cooperate with substance abuse testing procedures or personnel or adulterates or substitutes a urine sample will be terminated.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either -
