Reserve Arbitration
The arbitration was held on October 7, 2003 to determine by
which method the new reserve time balancing system will be
administered. AFA and the Company presented their arguments to
the arbitrator and the System Board. The Company's position is
that the new reserve system will be administered using a
percentage system that will compute a ratio of hours flown
divided by the high end of your flying option. The parties never
discussed this during the course of our discussions and, in
fact, the Company only presented this method on June 12 of this
year. AFA believes that the agreement reached last December
clearly states that flight attendants will be time balanced
based on credited monthly projected hours. Also in dispute is
when vacation or any other credited time should be counted.
The results of this arbitration will not be known until sometime
later this month or possibly early next month. The Company plans
on implementing what it believes was negotiated, i.e., time
balancing using percentages in November.
