Dear Members,

The following CBS message was sent to all flight attendants.

Date: Friday, 7 October 2005 10:18 ET

Subject: ETB and MAX Time

There have been a few questions about the MAX time field (CATCREW options #2 and #5) and how it is affected by ETB.

Whenever you PICK UP time from the ETB, your MAX will increase by that same amount of time.

If you DROP time using ETB, you will see your MAX go down by that amount of time.

Once you pick up an ETB trip it becomes part of your line just like any other trip, whether it is a SAP trip or part of your original line. When the ETB pairing is awarded to you, the obligation (OBL), maximum (MAX) and projection (PRJ) are all adjusted automatically to reflect the additional/reduced time. Trip improving on AIL from a pairing picked up on ETB would be the same as any other trip scheduled in your line. AIL pairings change only the projection/pay columns. Pairings picked up or dropped using the AIL do not affect the MAX or the OBL times. AIL pairings do however give you time toward meeting your OBL and reaching your MAX.

You have the ability to drop pairings using the ETB (if you are over 50 hours, you may drop to the minimum of 40 hours) due to the fact that you are reducing your OBL (and MAX) each time you drop a pairing on ETB. One thing to keep in mind is that you must end the month with at least 50 hours of time.

I have also included an example below that may help explain this as well. It shows what will happen when you pick up and drop time using ETB, AIL, and Time Off Without Pay (TWOP).
