The following is a message to all flight attendants from Sherry Groff, Vice President, Inflight Services.

Duty Free
Suspension
Beginning today, all Duty Free programs in Caribbean and Transatlantic markets will be temporarily suspended. This move will allow US Airways to establish more restrictive cash management and inventory control procedures associated with delivering the Duty Free product.
Flight attendants should make the following announcement on Duty Free flights, beginning today and effective until notification of program reinstatement:
"Ladies and gentlemen, Duty Free sales will not be available on today's flight. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to providing Duty Free onboard you flight in the near future."
On transatlantic flight segments, Duty Free carts/carriers will continue to be boarded with weighted ballast to simulate the weight of Duty Free products inside. This will ensure that the weight and balance of the aircraft remains uncompromised. The carts and carriers are to remain locked and sealed at all times, so it will not be necessary to ask the caterers to unlock the carts/carriers prior to departure.
The Purser will be responsible for retaining the AB-1 envelopes containing revenue from headset and liquor sales until arrival in the U.S. The AB-1 envelopes should be deposited into an Inflight Sales Deposit Safe upon trip termination.
On Caribbean flights, carts will also be boarded, but will remain empty as they did prior to Duty Free implementation. Consistent with current domestic policy, all Caribbean AB-1 envelopes containing revenue from headset and liquor sales should be deposited into an Inflight Sales Deposit Safe upon trip termination.
As a reminder, here are the Inflight Sales Deposit Safe locations:
CLT - 2 safes
* Below gate B-12 inside F/A crew room
* Drop slot in wall across from International Baggage Claim "Carousel E" on lower level
PHL - 2 safes
* Bag room - gate B-1
* Domestic crew room located under gate B-6
PIT - 1 safe
* Inside crew room
LGA - 1 safe
* Inside crew room under gate 15
DCA - 1 safe
* Inside crew room
* A safe is also located inside the IAD crew room
BOS - 1 safe
* Lower level baggage services office
US Airways is working diligently to restore the Duty Free program as soon as possible and we thank you in advance for your support and understanding.
