CREW ACCOMMODATIONS UPDATE/NOVEMBER 2003
ATL/L -Site inspection is completed. The committee recommended
the continued use of the incumbent property. A decision will be
made before the Thanksgiving Holiday.
PBI/S - Site inspection is completed. The committee recommended
the continued use of the incumbent property. The company agreed.
PUJ/* - A site inspection for Punta Cana will commence on 11/23
as layovers will begin 12/6 - one crewmember - two 319 crews
every Saturday. Full crew layovers will be a minimum of 16:48 to
a maximum of 18:24 for the month of December. The information
provided to the committee is that layovers will continue until
the next schedule change, possibly May. Property
decision/description, as this web site is not secure, will be
provided after the site inspection process is complete.
LAS/L - The discussions regarding a move from the Casino
property have been concluded. The company has decided crews will
be moved to the other incumbent property in January 2004. The
committee has provided a list of criteria to the property, as
they will now have the entire crew business in the LAS market.
The list is as follows:
1. Room readiness upon arrival
2. Remain cognizant of crews, especially flying red-eye trips
and the necessity of a quite environment / room placement
3. The lease agreement with the outdoor grill/restaurant - how
long / will continue/ as this property will now be accepting
crews for long RONS and the need for a more full service
facility i.e. lunch/dinner menu.
4. The van service to and from the strip may be requested more
often - how will they handle the demand.
5. There should not be any relocation issues as US Airways will
be giving the property quite a bit of business - at times over
60 rooms a night.
LAX/L - The process has begun to solicit other properties for
the crew business housed at the Redondo Beach property. The
committee recognizes crew feedback related to the incumbents'
location as well as the deficiencies that have been documented.
We look forward to some resolutions in this market. A middle
December early January site inspection will be scheduled.
The committee requested the company to investigate the
transportation problems crewmembers were/are having when
scheduled to layover at the Redondo Beach property. The property
has informed the company that the transportation service will
now be scheduled to be waiting for crews without the need of a
call for service, even if there is just one passenger. The
property has gotten a commitment from the transportation service
that they will be on time in accordance to the schedule
available on the Crew Automated Tracking System and their
commitment covers the pick up at the hotel. Should you be
experiencing any difficulties, please provide feedback via OF310
- most expeditious - online at www.afausairways.org / electronic
forms / hotel / submit
MAN/* - The property has been notified several times regarding
the deficiencies listed on the OF310 forms/letters submitted.
The committee requested the company investigate the lack of room
service provided. The property informed the company that their
definition of room service was instead "pick-up" service. Even
though the company also believed that room service would be
provided as in other properties, the company has stated, even
though it is defined as such, this is not a situation that would
negate the relationship with the property.
The following is the latest response provided to the company,
forwarded to the committee chair, by the General
Manager/MAN/property:
Good Afternoon,
The luxury apartment block at the rear to the hotel is now ready
for occupation and the scaffolding is almost fully removed. In a
couple of weeks we will be able to use this side of the property
for your rooms as well. As you know the rear is the quietest and
has the nice canal water aspect.
Soap bars have been going for a few weeks and are working well.
Ice containers, up and running for a few weeks.
Internet lobby access, up and running and proving very popular.
Welcome / information letter - due to most crew being repeat
stays we have these on request / as needed
Bedroom refurbishment, we are still looking at January start and
you should see the benefit of these new rooms for the crew early
next year.
Bedspreads, still being dry-cleaned on a rotational basis.
General bedroom cleanliness - Dianne and the team are very
sensitive to the crew needs, please be assured our bedroom
cleanliness standards are very important to us and we are
regularly checked without notice by the AA and other travel
associations. Should anyone be at all not happy we would rectify
the situation as soon as we are made aware.
Since forwarded this correspondence, the committee received
additional OF310s/letters referring to cleanliness deficiencies.
The property was again provided the documentation and we look
forward to resolutions. Should you be experiencing any
deficiencies, please contact a MAN/property staff member
immediately and document the information via an OF310, most
expeditious - online - www.afausairways.org / electronic forms /
hotel / submit
YYZ/L/S - The site inspection process has begun with the
possible date of inspection to begin early December.
FYI - The company has asked the committee to remind crewmembers
to please remember to pay all incidentals / phone charges /
movies / room service prior to leaving your hotel. All
outstanding bills will be forwarded to your base/supervisor for
payment to the property. To avoid some properties from
requesting a credit card upon check in, please remain cognizant
of your incidentals and make payment before leaving the hotel.
FYI- The DCA/S property will be serving a traditional
Thanksgiving dinner to all US Airways crewmembers staying at the
property on Thanksgiving Day. Their plans are to make the
announcement to crewmembers when being picked up at the airport.
To all of you who take the time and provide feedback, thank you
for helping us help you.
