Merger News
The
annual Board of Directors meeting concluded at midnight
October 30, 2003 in Boston. On that historic day over
2/3rds voted to merge with CWA. Now it's your turn.
Ballots will soon be mailed to the membership. If the
majority of the membership votes for the merger we will
become AFA-CWA in January. If the majority votes no on
the merger we will remain AFA. WITH THE MERGER DUES
REMAIN AT $39.00 FOR FOUR YEARS. The Board also approved
a contingency budget in the event the members do not
approve the merger. The contingency budget raises dues
to $45.00/month beginning in January 2004. It also
includes a 2% EVERY OTHER YEAR dues increase beginning
in 2006. For example, 2% equates to $0.90 or $45.90 in
2006 and $0.92 or $46.82 in 2008. DUES WILL ONLY
INCREASE IN THE EVENT THE MERGER IS NOT RATIFIED. This
would be the first dues increase in 11 years. PLEASE LET
