Is Your Manual Up to Date? Two Flight Attendants were found not having an alert bulletin (01-2004 issued in January of this year) in their manuals during an FAA enroute inspection last month. Because the company has done all that it can do to inform/train/educate the Flight Attendants as to the importance of maintaining a current manual, the Federal Aviation Administration now feels it has no recourse but to personally fine Flight Attendants for manual noncompliance. Flight Attendants had been forewarned by AFA that this would occur. The FAA will be levying a $500 fine for each Flight Attendant. They note that the Flight Attendants flew 10 legs on that trip (and several trips prior to the enroute inspection) in which their manuals were not current. Technically, the FAA could fine the Flight Attendants $1,100 per leg worked with a non-compliant manual. The FAA also states, the next phase of enroute inspections will not only look for manual compliance, but also for the Flight Attendants' knowledge of what is contained in our manual. As Safety Professionals, we need to understand the seriousness of our responsibilities and to also understand the consequences. Look for more information coming soon on promoting Flight Attendant Safety Compliance and Professionalism. <:><:><:><:><:><:><:> Entertainment Discounts for Union Members Relax...you can afford it!
