Dear Members,

EXCESS FILLER DAYS

The CBS message issued last week stating the "Company and AFA have recently agreed to change the way Excess Filler Days are processed" has been revised. The revised message is included in this Eline.

Last year the Company informed AFA of its desire to change the Excess Filler Day process to a payout rather than assignment of the Excess Filler Days as regular vacation days. At the Union's request the Company did not implement the change for 2006. The Company is now stating they want to implement the change for 2007.

The Union has not agreed to the change and reserves the right to challenge the Company position.

Thank you,

Mike Flores,
MEC President AFA-CWA

The Company has notified the AFA that the process for Excess Filler Days will be changing.

The current Agreement states: "50% of this year's Filler Days can carry over to next year as Carry Forward Fillers, as long as you do not exceed the 20% of accrual to a maximum of 6 Filler Days." Any Filler Days that cannot carry over as Filler Days are considered Excess Filler Days. Excess Filler Days are the Unused Filler Days from one year which cannot carry over to the following year as Filler Days due to already having the maximum number of Filler days allowed by Contract. In the past, we have brought over these Excess Filler Days as Regular Vacation Days and then Assigned them. Effective immediately, Excess Filler Days will no longer be assigned in the following year, rather they will be paid out at the rate of 3+30 hr/day. This process will take place no later than January 2007 for any 2006 Excess Filler Days.
