Voluntary Furlough 9 (VF9) As a result of flight attendants returning from Voluntary Furlough in June, our staffing forecast reflects an overage of approximately 40 flight attendants beginning July 2004. Therefore, the Company will be offering Voluntary Furlough (VF9). Application forms will only be available on theHub. The form MUST be submitted via theHub to Inflight Administration in Crystal City. Only bids submitted via theHub will be accepted. The form will be available on theHub effective May 12, 2004. The deadline for Inflight Administration to receive the form is Noon (EDT) May 25, 2004. * Scheduled to commence July 1, 2004 * Duration of VF9: 36 Months beginning July 1, 2004 and ending June 30, 2007 * Must be in an "active" and "available" status on May 12, 2004 and remain in that status through June 30, 2004. * Unlimited on-line travel privileges for eligible family members (excluding registered companions) for 24 months; no companion passes while on voluntary furlough * Continued current group health and welfare benefits for the first 90 days of the voluntary furlough * Sick bank and vacation accrual for the month of July 2004 only * Seniority and longevity accrual through June 30, 2007 * Pension service credit for up to first 36 months only * Ability to retire with benefits from a voluntary furlough status * No entitlement to furlough pay if awarded a voluntary furlough * US Airways will not contest unemployment claims for flight attendants participating in VF9 <:><:><:><:><:><:><:> MEC TO MEET WITH COMPANY SPECIAL MEC MEETING The US Airways MEC will meet with the Company next Thursday to receive a proposal on additional concessions. The following day, the MEC will have a special meeting to discuss the following: 1) Discuss information received by the Company on May 20, 2004; 2) Make a determination whether to engage the services of a financial analyst; 3) Make a determination whether to engage the services of Dan Aiken for the purpose of valuation of proposed concessions; 4) Make a decision whether or not to engage in negotiations with the Company prior to balloting or polling the membership; 5) Make a determination as to whether the vacant position on the Negotiating Committee should be filled.
