A Huge Increase In DCP

DCP, The Dependability Control Program

The duration of time once you are placed on DCP is a minimum of (1) one year.

Any further DCP infractions could progress you to Level 2, then a final warning and finally, termination.

As the MEC Grievance Chair I receive a copy of every Discipline letter that goes out to our members. I have noticed an increase in flight attendants being placed on DCP. I want to point out that there will be grievances filed, but most importantly I would like to let you know what some of the infractions are.
  • Excessive Sick
  • Sick on Assignment
  • Late Sick Call
  • No Contact
  • No Sign In
  • No Show
  • Illegal Trip Improvement
  • Late Check In
  • Reserve Out Of Base
  • Low Block Hours
  • Excessive Hours
  • Unable to Commute
  • Failure to Attend Meeting with Company
  • Failure to Provide Doctor's Note (after sixth sick call) with-in 14 Days
  • Failure to Attend Training
  • Failure to Attend a Mandatory Meeting
  • In-Flight Sales Accountability (Not having Pink Liquor Slips)
  • Traveling for Training (only for flight attendants going to training outside their base get space Positive Crew Movement.)
  • Failing to Notify Company when out sick for 14 or More Days (the Grievance has been Arbitrated and we are still waiting for a Decision, from the Arbitrator)

As I mentioned before, there will be grievances filed, but each grievance takes time. It takes months for Hearings and Decisions. The best practice would be to avoid getting placed on DCP, but if you are asked to meet with the Company, please call your Local Representative. You should make it a practice never to meet with the Company without AFA representation.

I will keep you posted on the progress of these grievances. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or call. asoler@afausairways.org or (412)262-3110, x 25

Fly Safe,

Aida Soler-Bryant, AFA MEC Grievance Chair
