Dear Members,

Former Mid Atlantic Flight Attendants and Profit Sharing

The following statement was sent to AFA about the profit sharing check from the Company.

"If you are currently mainline employees, you would have received a check containing profit sharing from both MDA and mainline. Originally, the belief was it would come in two separate checks, hence creating some confusion when it was changed at the last hour to one check combining both amounts".

For those former Mid Atlantic flight attendants that have called the MEC office, The information was passed along to the company to verify that checks were sent to the last known address. The Company's response was that all checks were sent. Re-check your pay stub to see if anywhere on the check it said PROFIT in a separate box with an amount.

You may find this helpful in your calculations:

Question: How can an eligible employee validate an approximate total of his/her W-2 compensation used when determining the applicable profit sharing payout?

Answer: An employee may be able to determine his/her approximate W-2 eligible compensation by looking at his/her box #1 on his/her 2006 W-2 form. In addition to the amount found in box #1, there may have been deductions that were made throughout the year that are classified as pre-taxed compensation (e.g., 401k, insurance premiums, flexible spending, etc.) and, if applicable, this compensation has been excluded from box #1. However, this compensation should be included when determining the employee's total eligible compensation. These pre-taxed amounts would need to be added to the figure in box #1 of the W-2.

Additionally, an employee may have items included in his/her box #1 of his/her 2006 W-2 that are not eligible (e.g., imputed tax for travel, moving expenses, etc.) and, if applicable, this compensation is not considered part of the total compensation used for determining the profit sharing payout. Such non-eligible compensation would need to be subtracted from the figure in box #1 of the W-2 to determine total eligible compensation.

Total (Box #1 - W-2)

+ Pre-taxed eligible compensation (e.g., 401k, insurance premiums, flexible spending, etc.)
- Non-eligible compensation (e.g., imputed tax for travel, moving expenses, etc.)

= Total eligible compensation used for determining profit sharing payout.

Any questions should be directed to your supervisor for proper investigation.

Thank you,

MEC Officers
