From AFA-US Airways Safety Committee - Minimum F/A Crew
Remember, FAR 121.391 requires the FAA-required minimum crew to be on board at origination, termination and at through stops DURING boarding and deplaning.

On through stops, when passengers are NOT boarding or deplaning, the crew can be reduced.

If you encounter difficulties such as being unable to get in touch with the gate agent to advise of a duplicate seating problem, please file a Cabin Safety Report and leave a copy in the mail file of your local safety committee.

We are required BY LAW to be on the aircraft for SAFETY, not for customer service.  If there are problems associated with compliancewith this FAR, it is up to the company to resolve them.  Don't jeopardize the safety of your passengers and fellow crew members by getting off the aircraft for customer service reasons.

US Airways' intimation that it might seek pay cuts from its employees could be a sign that the airline is preparing to apply for a federal loan guarantee, industry sources said yesterday.

In a recorded message this week, David N. Siegel, the Arlington-based airline's new chief executive, told employees that labor contracts signed during better times "do not make a lot of sense in today's airline industry environment" and that wages should not be tied to those of employees at the nation's four largest airlines.

The Charlotte Observer Posted on Mon, Mar. 25, 2002
TED REED ~ Staff Writer

The honeymoon ended Monday for David Siegel, two weeks after he took office as US Airways president and CEO.

Siegel was blasted by labor leaders hours after he posted a telephone message for employees, saying the airline's "parity plus one" compensation plan doesn't make sense.
