As a reminder, Flight Attendant ID's will expire this year. The expiration day is the last day of the same month as your birthday. For flight attendants with a birthday in April, your new ID's are now available in your crew base. You MUST pick them up no later than April 30th. Teddy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Members, Below is a message that went out on the company CBS. This pertains to claiming excessive sick after awarded VFLR. Please read carefully if you are planning to participate in the VFLR Program. Teddy
As per the company message: According to the VFLR Program, a flight attendant "claiming excessive sick" (solely as it pertains to the VFLR) between the time of being awarded the VFLR and his/her scheduled release date may be denied the $10,000.00 cash payment. The purpose behind the "claiming excessive sick" provision of the VFLR is to ensure that there are enough flight attendant resources to run the operation. VFLR release dates are determined based on staffing needs and the Company's expectation is for flight attendants awarded the VFLR to be productive after their award date and prior to the release date. Our service levels could be adversely impacted if sick calls amongst the VFLR awardees increase above normal levels. The purpose of the CBS message is to provide you with clarification regarding the "claiming excessive sick" provision. The definition of "claiming excessive sick" (solely as it pertains to the VFLR), which will result in the denial of the $10,000.00 cash payment, is as follows: A flight attendant with a release date of June 1 should not incur more than one (1) sick call after being awarded the VFLR: A flight attendant with a release date of Sept.1 should not incur more than two (2) sick calls after being awarded the VFLR: A flight attendant with a release date of December 2 should not incur more than three (3) sick calls after being awarded the VFLR. As an exception to this guideline for the December releases, a flight attendant who does not have any active sick calls on his/her record on the VFLR award date should not incur more than four (4) sick calls after being awarded the VFLR. The numbers of sick calls noted herein are to be used as a guideline and flight attendants are reminded that sick calls/sick claims are to be used for legitimate illnesses/injuries only. In addition, any flight attendant awarded the VFLR should keep track of his/her sick calls from the point of the VFLR award to his/her scheduled release date. If any flight attendant believes he/she may have exceeded the number(s) noted above, or if he/she may have extenuating circumstances, he/she should contact his/her LEC President and Inflight Supervisor as soon as possible. Any extraordinary cases occurring during the period of the VFLR award date and the applicable release dates will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Furthermore, please keep in mind that sick calls or dependability events subsequent to a flight attendant's VFLR award may progress that flight attendant to additional level(s) of the Dependability Control Program, and if so, that flight attendant may not be eligible for the $10,000.00 by virtue of his/her status and/or termination. |
