Preferential Bid System Update

In February, the negotiations surrounding the details of the Preferential Bid System (PBS) temporally came to a halt. AFA continues to request negotiating dates to move the project forward and come to an agreement. Unfortunately, to date there are no meetings scheduled. According to the Company, the lack of PBS negotiations is two fold. The first reason is that the PBS project is currently in the financial review process. This includes a risk and cost analysis regarding the vendors vying for the Preferential Bid System contract. The second reason is that the Company's labor and contract representatives are working on Mid Atlantic negotiations. Mid Atlantic has been put on the front burner because the new division's start-up date is drawing near.

Many flight attendants want to know if the Preferential Bid System will create more lineholders than the current Primary lines and Secondary lines produce. The answer is that no one really knows for sure because no one knows how high or low the lineholders in PBS will build there lines. However, the best estimates are that if the monthly hours stay the same, the number of lineholders will only be slightly higher. If any further information becomes available it will be posted on this e-line and hotline.
