Dear Members,

CBS Subject SDQ CXL & PAY

Marketing cancelled flight 305 FLL to SDQ and flight 374 SDQ to FLL sporadically from February 28th through March 30th.  This cancellation affected pairings in BOS, CLT and PHL. The pairings that are affected are attached. As a result of the flights 305 and 374 being cancelled crews have been rescheduled to deadhead into position to RON or pickup the next working flight, etc.  Schedulers rebuilt pairings and contacted each flight attendant affected by the cancellations.  To date, they have contacted everyone scheduled on the affected pairings through March 21st.  The affected pairings from March 22nd through March 30 have not been rebuilt because April SAP is not awarded and the last 10 days of March can not be altered due to month to month legality checks. On or about March 4th, the Schedulers rebuilding the pairings will be able to adjust the affected pairings from March 22nd through March 30th and contact the applicable flight attendants.

As a result of the aforementioned cancellations each flight attendant wants to know how he/she will be compensated.  There will be two methods (Group 1 and Group 2) of compensation for the rebuilt pairings.

Group 1- DH Will Be Compensated @ 100% Pay and Credit: Are the flight attendants that obtained such pairings as a primary award, secondary award, SAP award, augmentation award, ETB award, or trade prior to such pairing being rebuilt for a lessor amount.  These flight attendants will be ultimately credited with 100% pay and credit for the deadhead that was rebuilt into the affected pairing. Example:  March 12th, BOS pairing 04086 which was originally scheduled for pay and credit of 15+48 and scheduled to work flight 305 FLL to SDQ.  With flight 305 cancelled the crew deadheads to SDQ to pick up their next working flight. In CATS rebuilt pairing 04086 shows pay and credit of 13+37 plus a dh flight 287 of 50% pay and no credit  (1+06).  Once the pairing is completed Claims Administration will adjust flight 287 from dh @ 50% pay no credit to 100% pay and credit.  Therefore, the 1+06 pay no credit will be eliminated and 2+12 pay and credit or actual whichever is greater will be entered into CATS.   As a result this group will not lose pay and credit from the original value. Please check CATS for correct pay and submit claim if necessary.

Group 2- DH 50% Pay and No Credit and PNC (other) - Duty Rig VM Pay For DH Issue: Are the flight attendants that obtained such rebuilt pairings from an  AIL award, ETB award, trade, or Reserve assignment/award after such pairings were rebuilt for a lessor amount because of the cancellations and entered into the CATS system.  These flight attendants will be credited with 50% pay and no credit for the deadhead that was rebuilt into the affected pairing and any settlement pay (L-45 to L47-6) that applies.  Example: Awarded via AIL with a value of 13+37 Pay and credit-BOS pairing 04086. In CATS shows pairing 04086 as pay and credit of 13+37.  Additionally, the system is reflecting a dh on flight 287 of 50% pay and no credit (1+06). Once the pairing is completed the time away from home would be calculated at 1 for 3.5.  For the purposes of this example use the scheduled time of 54+10 as this equates to 15+29.  Therefore under the settlement provisions: 15+29 minus 13+37 pay and credit minus the 1+06 dh pay no credit would equal a PNC (other) of +46.  Claims Administration will credit the affected flight attendant with the additional PNC (other) of +46 and placed it in the pay no credit column. Please check CATS for correct pay and submit claim if necessary.

Thank you,

Carol Austin
MEC Scheduling Chairperson

*Note:  All figures are ultimately based on actual times; therefore, these examples would change accordingly.
