  • Accessing The Hub

Dear Members,

The Company and AFA entered into discussions concerning the use of the Electronic Trade Board and have agreed on a trial basis to allow Reserve flight attendants to pick up trips on all days off without being released into such days off.

The aforementioned procedural change allows Reserves to pick up trips on OFF days without having been released into such OFF days by Crew Scheduling, thereby allowing more flexibility for both the Reserves picking up trips and for the lineholders attempting to drop trips. Other ETB parameters applicable to Reserves as outlined in the 2004 Flight Attendant Agreement still apply, such as the following:

1) Reserves must allow a minimum of ten (10) hours rest between the latest time the Reserve could be scheduled to be released in domicile and the scheduled report of the ETB requested trip. (Note: This provision would apply only to the first off day in a grouping; thereafter a 10:00 check-in or later is not required. As always, only F.A.R.'s apply after being released by Crew Scheduling.

2) Reserves must allow a minimum of ten (10) hours rest between the scheduled release of the ETB requested trip and the earliest time a Reserve could be required to report for duty on her/his first day of availability following the INV day, the OFF day or the vacation day. The ETB requested trip must be scheduled to release no later than 1800 on the last INV, OFF or vacation day so as to have at least ten hours (10:00) rest prior to 0400 on the first day of availability should a twenty-four hour (24:00) reserve period be introduced.

3) Abide by FAR legalities such a 24 in 7 and applicable rest.

The procedural chart - HERE (http://www.afausairways.org/Reserve/RSVProcessing.htm) will be used by Crew Scheduling when processing Reserves for trip coverage and when a Reserve has a trip on OFF/INV/VAC day(s) that was obtained via the ETB. Note: Pay protection is not applicable if a trip awarded via the ETB has to be split or dropped as a result of a legality or overlap conflict with an LTO trip. This chart supersedes the chart published on the AFA E-Line on June 2, 2005. Please disregard that chart.
