AUGUST RECALL

The Company is in the process of recalling forty (40) Flight Attendants to BOS effective August 1, 2007. The Company has mailed a letter to ALL Flight Attendants on involuntary furlough. The Company has mailed two different letters. A "will be recalled" letter was sent to the forty (40) most senior Flight Attendants on involuntary furlough and a "possible recall" letter to all other Flight Attendants on involuntary furlough. Both letters contain a RECALL FROM INVOLUNTARY FURLOUGH FORM. 1113 Flight Attendants are currently on the Involuntary Furlough list. The list is available on our website at http://www.afausairways.org/recall/aug_07a.htm.

Here are some important points to remember if you are on Involuntary Furlough status:

  • You must respond to the "will be recalled or "possible recall" letter. Failure to respond to the letter will result in your being removed from the Involuntary Furlough list and you will be separated from the Company.

  • You must indicate on the Recall From Involuntary Furlough Form whether you would like to bid for the recall or pass recall.

  • You may pass recall as long as there are Flight Attendants junior to you on involuntary furlough. There is no limit to the number of times you may pass as long as there remains a Flight Attendant(s) junior to you.

  • If there is no one junior to you and you fail to accept a recall, absent one of the following two conditions you shall be considered to have resigned from the Company (Section 19.F page 19-2 of the Flight Attendant Agreement):

1. If there is no one junior to you and you are recalled you must accept the recall unless you are currently employed outside the company and your employer has required you to sign a contract and you have previously notified the company prior to such a contractual commitment. You will be placed on leave of absence until the contractual commitment has been fulfilled.
2. If there is no one junior to you and you are recalled you must accept the recall unless you have entered into a full time educational program while on furlough. You will be placed on leave of absence commencing on the effective date of the recall for up to ninety (90) days or until the end of the current semester, whichever is first (Section 19.J.a and b page 19-3 of the Flight Attendant Agreement).

  • If you accept the recall you will be eligible for moving expenses pursuant to the Flight Attendant Agreement if you accept a recall to BOS and that was not the base from which you were furloughed provided you have not passed a previous mainline East recall. Pursuant to the current agreement the move must occur within three years of the effective date of the recall. If you pass this recall or have passed a previous recall you will forfeit any moving expenses for any subsequent recall.

  • If you were displaced prior to being furloughed and were eligible for a priority return to the base you were displaced from you will retain your priority return right provided you have not passed a previous recall.

  • YOU MUST RETURN THE RECALL FROM INVOLUNTARY FURLOUGH FORM NO LATER THAN NOON (EST), JULY 2, 2007. THE FORM MAY BE FAXED OR MAILED.

  • IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THE RECALL LETTER AND THE FORM PLEASE CONTACT MARK STELZER AT 480-693-5827 BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10:00 AM AND 7:00 (EST) MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. YOU CAN EMAIL MARK STELZER WITH ANY QUESTIONS AT Mark.Stelzer@usairways.com.

  • IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU CONTACT MARK STELZER AFTER YOU HAVE RETURNED YOUR FORM TO RECEIVE CONFIRMATION THAT IT HAS BEEN RECEIVED.

Thank you,

Mike Flores, President
