Subject: Flight Attendants Retiring in 2005
If you submitted your notification to Retire in 2005 to Inflight Services, please be aware of the following:
Current 2005 Vacation
Your Vacation has been cancelled effective the date of retirement.
E.G. - If you have vacation December 25-31 and you elected to retire on December 31, your December 31 vacation day has been cancelled. If you rescind your retirement, your vacation will be re-instated.
Monthly Line Awards
Primary lines are awarded six (6) weeks prior to the Bid Month. If you do not rescind your retirement notice prior to the closing of the bid, you will not be awarded a Primary line. If you could have held a Primary Line, you can choose to be either a Free Spirit (i.e. Open Block) for that month or you may bid a Secondary Line.
Secondary lines are awarded two (2) weeks prior to the Bid Month. If you do not rescind your retirement notice prior to the closing of the bid, you will not be awarded a Secondary line. If you could have held a Secondary Line, you can choose to be either a Free Spirit or Reserve for that month.
Reserve Lines are awarded one (1) week prior to the Bid Month. If you do not rescind your retirement notice prior to the closing of the bid, you will be awarded a Reserve Line, unless you could have held either a Primary or Secondary Line, in which case you can to be a Free Spirit.
2006 Annual Vacation Bid
You must rescind your retirement notice BEFORE Round 1 of the 2006 Annual Vacation Bid closes in order to participate in Round 1 awards. If you rescind your retirement notice AFTER Round 1 has been awarded, but BEFORE Round 2, you may participate in Round 2 Bidding. If you rescind yourretirement after Round 2 closes, you will not be awarded any dates for 2006 and will have to participate in Monthly Rebids in order to have vacation days scheduled for 2006.
In addition, the following items must be returned to your Operational Supervisor after your retirement date: Company ID, SIDS (Jumpseat) Card, Parking Card (if applicable), Video Lock Box Key and Emergency Manual.
