Dear Members, For your information and update on the latest news regarding the America West transaction, USAirways filed its Plan of Reorganization (POR) and Disclosure Statement yesterday July 1, 2005. Our Legal advisors are reviewing the details of the POR and Disclosure Statement. All unions have until August 5, 2005 to file any objections they may have. On August 9, the bankruptcy court, in Arlington, VA, will hold a hearing on whether to approve the Disclosure Statement (which explains the terms of the POR,(merger with America West). If the judge approves the Disclosure Statement, it will be sent, along with the POR to the Creditors for their vote (generally those who are not paid in full). After this vote, a confirmation hearing will be held on whether to approve the Plan itself. The Company along with America West remain on track to complete all regulatory requirements and plan to close on the transaction by early October. Teddy MEC President |
