Voluntary
Furlough Clarifications
Subject:
VF7 Flexible Spending and 401K
The
following is additional information for flight attendants
considering the
VF7.
*Participation
in the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) programs
will end on the day before your voluntary furlough
begins. Participants are eligible for reimbursement
on claims for
services or expenses incurred up to the date
of voluntary
furlough and while actively making payroll contributions.
To receive reimbursement for health claims incurred
after the date of voluntary furlough, participants
must elect
continuation coverage through COBRA. Dependent
Care Accounts are not eligible for COBRA continuation.
FSA participants will have until March 31st of
the following year to submit claims for eligible services.
*Voluntary
Furlough flight attendants who have a balance of
less than $5,000 in the US Airways, Inc. 401(k) Savings
Plan, will be
required to take a distribution of Plan funds.
You will be able
to defer payment of taxes if you roll your
distribution over
into another qualified vehicle such as
an IRA.
The Fidelity Service Center for US Airways will send
distribution
information to all Plan participants as soon as
they have been
notified of the participants' termination from
the company. If
you have an outstanding 401(k) loan, you will
continue to be responsible for making timely loan
payments in order
to avoid loan default and associated tax
penalties.
