I'm pleased to announce our second Reciprocal
Cabin Seat Agreement. The agreement is between US Airways and Southwest
Airlines and is effective August 1, 2007.
The program is designed for flight attendants to
travel (for commuting purposes or personal leisure) in what would otherwise
be empty cabin seats, free of charge. Transportation is applicable on US
Airways and Southwest Air Lines flights within the continental United States
to/from the U.S., Hawaii, Alaska and the United StatesVirgin Islands and is
on a space available basis.
Guidelines and details for travel on Southwest
will be posted to theHub and Compass prior to the August 1 effective date.
We continue to work with other carriers, so be on the look out for other
carriers to be added to the program.
The Southwest reciprocal agreement coupled with the
Delta Air Lines agreement is the direct result of the AFA membership
mobilization advocacy campaign that began several months ago. A Union is only
has strong as its membership. Thank you for helping your leaders and for being
the driving force in directing the Company in securing these agreements.
Further details will be forthcoming. The cabin seat
agreements are for active Flight Attendants with a valid ID. The cabin
seat agreements DO NOT allow travel for other family members or domestic partners
otherwise eligible for non revenue travel on US Airways. Other family members
and domestic partners are eligible for off-line travel on Delta and Southwest
per existing non revenue travel agreements with the two carriers.
