Dear Members,
September 09 Primaries:
The Manager-Flight Attendant Scheduling, John Petronzi set the MAX in ALL
bases at 90 hrs of Company time. The objective was a window of 75-90 hrs.
The way the pilot lines are built, by aircraft type, some lines were beneath the
minimum window. Additionally, AFA wanted to make as many “flight attendant only
lines” as possible so the minimum for those lines was 70. AFA agreed to publish
such lines. Less Than 75 Hours: If awarded a line of less than 75:00 you
can come in with such value or use the AIL. Additionally, you can SAP
upward to 90 hrs of Company time (including vacation time) to increase your
flying time. When SAP is utilized the increased post SAP line value would be
your new obligation.
SAP:
Group 1 (PHL and BOS) opens July 24th
at 1800 and closes July 30th 1800. Group 2 (CLT, DCA LGA) opens July
24th at 1800 and closes July 31st at 1800. The SAP non-high option
window is MAX of 90 and MIN of 60. The SAP window has been expanded beyond the
Contract provisions to allow for the extra blocking window (70-85).
SAP: September 7th Labor
Day is a Protected Holiday. You may utilize SAP to drop pairings which touch a Protected Holiday
such as the Labor Day. However, such drop is based on a percentage related to
the “Open Positions” touching the Protected Holiday resulting from all known
drops prior to SAP opening. If those “Open Positions” are under 15% a drop that
touches a protected holiday may occur. The following list was compiled to give
you an idea of the “Open Positions” percentages directly related to the last
protected holiday (Fourth of July):
CLT - Start: 24.6 % End: 21.9%,
BOS
– Start: 7.8%: End: 13.7%, DCA- Start: 21.2% End:
18.1%,
PHL - Start: 24.9 % End: 21%,
LGA - Start: 5 % End: 15%
Only BOS and LGA had a percentage of “Open
Positions” below the 15% at the initial opening of SAP. As a result, three (3)
f/as in Boston and four (4) in LGA where allowed to drop their trips into
Company open time on the Fourth of July. In other bases, the holiday DROP
process relied on other f/as wanting to ADD a holiday trip via a chain link.
Labor Day Drop-Be Aware: Example Only)
UNIT 1- DROP:
96001/07 ADD: NONE
At the
time you are being processed the program may deny Unit 1 (drop the 96001/07)
because the percentage is above 15% Open Positions and the f/a that wants
96001/07 is not legal to take the full value of the trip. However, when the
more junior f/a is processed in SAP and some of his/her units are worked he/she
could be legal for 96001/07. The system could return to you and drop 96001/07
if such trip is high on the more juniors ADD list. As such, the more senior f/a
will have his/her units worked out of order. Like Unit 1 denied, Unit 2
Awarded, Unit 3 Awarded then Unit 1 Awarded.
Additionally, keep in mind that within the
same Unit you can drop a trip like 96001/07 and ADD a 2day/06 or 3day/05. Why?
As long as the trip you are adding touches Labor Day the system will work the
Unit without applying the Holiday 15% formula. Why? Basically you are exchanging one holiday touch for
another within the same Unit. Then, after you are awarded a trip that touches
Labor Day you have the AIL to move off the holiday completely.
Secondary Lines: Open: August 7th at 1800 and close August 12th at
1800. Any Secondary lineholder that wishes more Company time (to a max of 90)
may use the Augmentation process from August 14th to August 21st or
he/she may use the AIL. When augmentation is utilized the
increased post
augmentation value is the new obligation including vacation time.
Reserves:
The maximum for the bid month will be 90 hrs; therefore, a reserve may out of
time at 85:01.
IT Lines with Line Lead-ins – PHL:
Example: FAI Line 5314 has pairing 54010 carrying-over from the August bid month
into September. Such pairing is owned by the originating crew in the August;
however, dp2 of pairing 54010 is also placed in September’s line
5314 as “artificial time” to create a legal line. Line 5314 has a published
value of 82+50 but when the “artificial block time” of 9+10 (dp2 of 54010) is
subtracted the recalculated value of the line will be 73+40.
The f/as that are
awarded line 5314 may come in with the published time less the “artificial
block time”. In this example, the recalculated value of 73+40 will be
entered as an adjusted obligation in CATS. Or, the affected f/as could
SAP upward to 90 hrs of Company time (including vacation
time). Any time SAP is utilized the increased post SAP line value
would be his/her new obligation. Additionally, the AIL may be used to increase
the flying time up to a maximum 90 hrs of Company time.
However, in the case of using the AIL this action increases your flying time
(projection) but does not adjusted the obligation of 73+40.
Whenever a line lead-in is utilized to bring up the value the provisions on page
9-28 line 24 of the CBA applies. Note: Use the above methodology to
determine the recalculated obligation for any other IT block when a line lead-in
pairing is utilized. Note: Weekend Touch: Whenever a line lead-in
(artificial block time) spans a Saturday or/and Sunday such affected flight
attendants are NOT required to “touch” for a restricted weekend. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
