BENEFITS UPDATE

OPTIONAL BENEFIT PACKAGE
The company has mailed an optional benefit package to all employees in the past several weeks. If you wish to participate in these programs, you must sign up by Friday, July 11, 2008. These benefits will be offered again at the annual benefits enrollment in October, 2008 effective January, 2009. If you wait until October, 2008 you may be subject to certain pre-existing condition clauses.

Please be aware that both the Critical Illness and Accident Insurance are not salary replacement. They provide a flat fee based upon diagnosis. This insurance will assist you with your co-payment and deductibles.

The Long Term Care Indemnity Insurance provides for increments of $1,000 to $10,000 per month for care in a long term care faculty. The policy choice range from 3 -6 years. If you are in a long term care facility longer that the policy lasts, you are back to paying 100% for the care.

COBRA
There have been a number of questions regarding COBRA rates for those who are interested in bidding for the 3 or 8 month voluntary furlough. COBRA rates may be found on the Inflight Services page of TheHub. When you first bring the page up it appears blank, but scroll down and you will find the rates listed.

As a reminder, anyone who is awarded a Voluntary Furlough that begins on September 5 will continue to have "active rate" coverage for the month of September only.

COBRA rates are based upon federal law. The rate is determined by 100% of the cost of the insurance plus a 2% administrative fee. There are rates for health insurance, vision and dental. The rates listed are the 2008 rates. I have not received any information on the 2009 rates to date so the rates may increase in January, 2009
