W2 Discrepancies Follow Up
The company is in the process of mailing updated W2 with corrected information.
The company must take full accountability for what could be a costly error to
the employee and put in place safeguards to insure that these types of mistakes
do not happen again. The following is a sample of the letters that are being
sent out. This letter will also include a Corrected Wage and Tax Statement. If
you are not in receipt of this letter shortly contact your local In-Flight
office.
SAMPLE
Dear Employee.
The original 2008 W2 that you received was missing some information about
your time away from base (TAFB or Meals) in box 12. In addition, the titles
for the TAFB reported in the Earnings Summary are reversed for taxable and
nontaxable. The detail information is below. We want to apologize for the
error and any inconvenience this has caused you.
The following information is listed incorrectly on your 2008 W2 in the
Earnings Summary section:
| |
Previously
Reported |
Correct
Information |
| TAFB Taxable |
$3,224.71 |
$277.15 |
| TAFB Non-Taxable |
$277.15 |
$3,224.71 |
The enclosed W2 is to correct the
missing Box 12 code L on the original W2. The W2 must be filed with your
1040 along with the original W2. Please refer to the enclosed instructions
when completing your taxes.
Once again, we do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

January 30th Pay checks
There was a contractual pay increase that took place on January 1, 2009.
The 30th pay check is
actually half of the guarantee for the current pay month. The 15th paycheck is
the balance of all hours flown in the previous month. All monies including the
pay increase will be in the February 15th pay check. This will
reflect the increase for the entire month of January. We have also heard from
members about fluctuations in the 30th pay amounts and Union is investigating
this also.
