Dear Members,

REQUIRED REST AFTER TRAINING

In accordance with 21.G.1., of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, at his/her option, a flight attendant attending training will not be required to fly a trip on the day following such training if he/she has not received a rest period of ten hours and fifteen minutes (10:15) from the time training ends or arrival of the deadhead flight back to his/her domicile (if out domicile training), whichever is later, until the scheduled departure of the trip on the day following training. A flight attendant wanting to request his/her rest in accordance with this language will need to contact Crew Scheduling.

In addition the Company has agreed the 8+30 hours of uninterrupted rest for Reserves as specified in Section 11.F.2 DOES apply for Reserves after training.

2. Upon release into such uninterrupted rest period at a home or TDY domicile, a reserve will not be subject to telephone contact for the first eight hours and thirty minutes (8:30, commencing at block-in plus debrief) of an actual rest period, after which time he/she will maintain telephone contact until granted a release by Crew Scheduling or until commencement of a day off, whichever occurs first.

At present there is no automated process for Crew Scheduling to track the arrival time of the return to domicile DH flight for Reserves who have attended training out of base. In order to be guaranteed the 10+15 hours of rest prior to the scheduled departure of a trip on the day following training and the 8+30 hours of uninterrupted rest, it is necessary for a Reserves to contact Crew Scheduling upon her/his arrival back in domicile following training to establish the proper rest parameters.

Example:

Flight #1234 arrives blocks in at 2245.
Debrief of 15 minutes ends at 2300.

At her/his option a Reserve Flight Attendant is entitled to 10+15 rest from the arrival time of the DH which would mean she/he would not be required to take a trip departing before 0900 on the day following training. In order to satisfy the 8+30 hours of uninterrupted rest, she/he cannot be contacted by Crew Scheduling until 0730 (2300 plus 8+30 equals 0730).

Again, at this time it will be necessary for Reserves to contact Crew Scheduling upon arrival in domicile in order to establish and confirm the correct rest parameters.

LINEHOLDER TO RESERVE TRANSITION

The Union filed a grievance over the Company's position that a Lineholder transitioning to Reserve would not be allowed to maximize her/his Company time in the month the flight Attendant was a Lineholder if it created a 24/7 conflict in the next (Reserve) month. The Company agreed with the Union's position that a Lineholder could never be precluded from maximizing her/his Company time during the month the Flight Attendant was a Lineholder. Any potential conflicts created by such action would be resolved by the assignment of an NFL day in the Reserve month.

This settlement applies to a Lineholder maximizing Company time. Lineholders who are transitioning to Reserve are not allowed to create a 24/7 conflict via use of the Electronic Tradeboard (ETB) unless the ETB trip was awarded prior to the Reserve Line award. Once the Reserve lines have been awarded a Lineholder transitioning to Reserve will not be awarded an ETB trip if it creates a 24/7 conflict at transition.

ID EXPIRATION DATE UPDATE

Once again, please take a look at your new ID and verify the expiration date. For reasons unknown, some of the "new" ID cards have expiration dates throughout the 2007 calendar year. Contact your supervisor to verify that a new ID will be available in a timely fashion if your ID is due to expire soon.

Thank you,

Mike Flores, President
US Airways Master Executive Council
