FURLOUGH/VOLUNTARY FURLOUGH UPDATE

I know many of have been waiting for the VF8 awards to be posted. AFA has been working with the Company in an effort to work out all of the issues created by the Company's improper furlough on January 15th. We received another proposal from the Company late today. The MEC will be meeting via conference call this Saturday morning to review the Company's proposal.

AFA believes the Company could award VF8 without further delay. They were mandated by the arbitrator's award on January 14th to offer VF8. There is nothing preventing the Company from notifying those flight attendants of the award.

Please be advised that because AFA and the Company have not resolved all the outstanding issues relating to the January 15th furlough, the VF will not commence on February 1 as originally announced. Additionally, those 200 flight attendants who were active prior to the January 15th furlough are not on-call on January 30, 2004, as stated in Sherry Groff's letter dated January 16th. The Company has been personally calling those flight attendants to advise them that they are not on-call.

For your information, some of the issues that need to be resolved include pay guarantee for the period beginning on January 15th for those flight attendants who were furloughed, moving expenses, insurance, furlough pay and other issues. AFA hopes that we can get these issues resolved as soon as possible as we understand how difficult it is for those of you who have been furloughed as well as those of you who have applied for VF8.

The Hotline and E-line will be updated as soon as additional information becomes available.
