Dear Members,

This is just an fyi....

AFA did not negotiate any changes to the Flight Attendants prescription plan as part of our group's concessions, as described below. The company now REQUIRES employees to participate in a "maintenance medication mail order program" for your prescriptions.

USAirways captured that cost savings on their own, and Caremark (the mail-order company) has just now notified all employees by postal mail. The cost savings is $2.5 million to the company, but an inconvenience for many employees. We suspect this was in the making for a while, and we are now just getting notification.

As part of the USAirways' prescription benefit program administered by Caremark, you are now REQUIRED to use the Caremark Mail Service Program for all "maintenance" medications. Maintenance medications are medications that you take on a long-term basis.

This notification was sent to all employees by postal mail just recently. You may have thrown it in the trash, thinking it was an advertisement from Caremark. If you don't have this notification and application regarding ordering "maintenance" medication that is now required as of February 1, 2005, you need to contact Caremark at 1-866-273-5268, or call the number on your prescription benefit card.

This notification stresses that the Caremark Mail Service Program is specifically designed to be used for your long-term medications. Effective February 1, 2005, all medications that you take on an ongoing basis must be filled through the mail service pharmacy.

When you start a new long-term medication, you may fill the original prescription plus two (2) refills at your local participating pharmacy. All subsequent refills must be obtained through Caremark Mail Service Program.

IMPORTANT: Your local pharmacist will be unable to fill the prescription after the second refill.

Shipping/payment information: Your order will be shipped standard delivery at no charge, however you must allow 14 days from the date you mail your order for delivery of your medicine. If you request expedited delivery, for example, 2nd business day is $10, and next business day is $15 per order.

Payment is due with each order and may be made by credit card, check or money order.

For more information you can visit their website at www.Caremark.com

When you initially apply you must enclose original doctor-signed prescription(s) and payment with the order form. You must ask your doctor to write your mail service prescriptions for the maximum supply allowed by your plan. This is for everyone in your family who is on your prescription plan and is on "maintenance" medications.

Again, AFA does not agree with this mandatory method, and AFA International is looking into whether we have a grievance as no where in any of our ratified agreements did we agree to participate in a mandatory, required "mail order service" to obtain our maintenance prescribed medications.

The company's position is that this method is rather a cost savings to the employee and convenient.

We believe that employees should have the "choice" to make that determination. Company never considered that we are flight crews that leave home for many, many days for work having now the possibility of our medications sitting outside our homes waiting for our return.

If you have any questions or need more information regarding this method of obtaining your maintenance prescription medications, please call Benefits Department at Corporate Headquarters. Or write to Jerry Glass, Senior Exec VP of Labor Relations with any complaints or gratitude, at jglass@usairways.com
