Today, January 6, 2005, Judge Mitchell ruled to abrogate the IAM-M current collective bargaining agreements. He also ruled to terminate the defined pension plans of the IAM and AFA.
The IAM sent out to its members a revised proposal for ratification. The company said that it would maintain the "status quo" and no changes would be made to existing IAM contracts, and no new contract terms would be implemented until a date after the IAM ratification process has been completed (due January 21, 2005). The IAM agreed not to engage in any job action during the ratification period.
Below, is directly off the IAM website for your fyi...
More information to follow as it becomes known.

The offer your Negotiating Committee gave to the company yesterday, which provided for a resolution of the issues involved and would have protected the jobs of those we represent was rejected by the company late last night.
Contracts Terminated - Judge Mitchell ruled today in favor of the company’s motion to terminate our collective bargaining agreements, but the airline has agreed to maintain the status quo of the current agreements until ratification is determined.
Negotiations - We have reached a tentative agreement for the Maintenance Training Specialists. The ratification process will take place on a date to be determined. Negotiations are continuing with the company for the Mechanic and Related employees. The company has indicated they will give us a final offer later today. We will continue to keep you advised of all future developments as they occur. Your patience and continuing support is appreciated. Sincerely and fraternally,
