Dear Members,
RESERVATION SYSTEM CUTOVER
| This Saturday night the reservation system
will cutover from Sabre to the new SHARES system. The migration of passenger
reservation will occur overnight as over seven (7) million PNRs will
"migrate" between Sabre and SHARES. Both systems will actually go dark for a
two hour period between 0200 and 0400 Sunday March 4. At 0400 SHARES will
come back on and, voila all will be done. Many of you remember what happened
when we switched to SABRE. There were problems. While I hope that will not
be the case this time, one never knows. |
|
This information
is being sent as a guide and does not imply in any way that the
Association of Flight Attendants agrees with the non revenue boarding
priority being implemented by the Company on March 4, 2007. |
|
The Company has distributed a "Res Migration"
Handbook outlining how the migration will affect pass travel, deadheading and
jumpseat procedures. The handbook is in on the AFA website at:
http://www.afausairways.org/res/res_handbook.pdf (right click - "save
target as")
Here are the highlights contained in the handbook:
-
The Employee Travel Center
(ETC) on the hub will be turned off for 12 hours at midnight to noon on Sunday
March 4th.
-
Deadhead and jumpseat
procedures will remain as they are. Nothing needs to be done by the employee
-
If you listed in Sabre prior
to the cutover for flights after March 3, your boarding priority (and that of
your family members) will transfer to SHARES as an SA7. You will have to take
the following action to re-list at your correct boarding priority level: Log
on to the ETC after noon on March 4 and create new listings that were made
prior to the cutover. Your seniority year will be included in the new listing.
-
The Interactive Voice
Response (IVR) line at 800-325-9999 will be available for East metal listings
until 0200 EST March 4. After that time the IVR will no longer be available
for listing for a flight. The IVR will be available to check bookings or to
talk to a live agent to create listings for everything except guest passes and
SA1P listings.
-
Once the ETC comes back up
you will be able to use it to check for a flight up to 12 hours in advance.
-
Check can also be done at the
airport up to four hours prior to the flight you are listed on
As you know, the Union has filed a grievance
regarding the Company's unilateral decision to ignore both past practice and
contract language regarding the method for non revenue travel. The grievance
will not be heard prior to the reservations system cutover and implementation of
the new non revenue boarding scheme created by the Company.
Thank you,
Mike Flores, President
The US Airways Master Executive Council
