Dear Members,
There have been reports from the reserve flight attendants that they are not being offered a choice of trips when they are called by the schedulers. The reserve has the contractual right to have a choice of "trips" when they are called when more than one trip is available. Whether the reserve available days are 2,3,4,5,6 days, they have the choice of trip selection, even to take a 1-day trip, if available. If a choice of trips are not offered to you by the crew scheduler, ask what trips are available. Reserves have "trip selection"; we did not negotiate "buckets and pools". Know your legalities: After checking out from a reserve flight attendant's trip or upon completion of an OPR assignment at his/her home or TDY domicile, he/she shall be considered released from reserve duty to begin his/her legal domicile rest period of 8:30 of uninterrupted rest including no telephone contact. You will not get a "no contact". If you should pick up the phone during this uninterrupted rest period, or should be contacted by a scheduler inside this window, your rest commences at that point again for another 8:30 hours. Please review section 11-9 of the May 2000 contract for details. In addition, the reserves can exercise a minimum of 10:15 rest in base, or at the f/a option, reduce this to 9:15. The scheduler may call to assign you a trip after a 9:15 rest period however, you are not required to take a trip with a 9:15 rest and can exercise your 10:15 rest from your block-in.
