Early Retirement Incentive and Rescinding Retirement Date

The company notified AFA today of the Early Retirement Incentive (ERI) policy and rescinding the retirement date. Any flight attendant who was active December 1, 2004 and has at least 20 years of service as a flight attendant and is of retirement age is eligible to participate in the ERI if you notify US Airways Benefits by March 1, 2005 and retire prior to December 31, 2005. A separate form for the ERI will be available on the HUB on Friday, February 11, 2005. This form must be submitted in addition to the normal retirement form.

Any flight attendant who has notified Benefits prior to March 1, 2005 of her/his intent to retire and is eligible for the ERI may submit a change in the retirement date prior to March 1, 2005 and maintain eligibility for the ERI. (Of course those who are already retired may not change their retirement date.)

After March 1, 2005 any flight attendant who elects to change her/his retirement date will be ineligible for the ERI. This does not change the policy of being able to rescind your retirement notice up until one day prior to retirement, but it does eliminate you from eligibility for the ERI.

If you qualify for the ERI and would like to participate in this incentive program, please consider carefully what date you submit on your retirement form. Again, if you want to change your retirement date and maintain eligibility for the ERI, this notification must occur prior to March 1, 2005.

As additional information becomes available during this transition time AFA will forward the information promptly.
