AFA US Airways MEC E-Line for December 29, 2003

In this E-Line
  • 552 ADDITIONAL FURLOUGHS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 15, 2004
552 ADDITIONAL FURLOUGHS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 15, 2004

As a result of more than 300 flight attendants returning to active status from voluntary furlough on December 2, the company's staffing forecast reflects an overage of approximately 200 active flight attendants. As a result, the company will be furloughing 200 ACTIVE flight attendants effective January 15, 2004. Since furloughs must be processed in seniority order, the total number of flight attendants on the seniority list to be furloughed will be 552. This encompasses the 200 active flight attendants and an additional 352 flight attendants on a leave of absence (including voluntary furlough) within the seniority range. If you are currently on voluntary furlough or any other type of leave and fall within this seniority, your status will be changed to involuntary furlough.

The most senior flight attendant on the seniority list to be furloughed will be M. Green #86736( First Training Date - 3/21/99). A complete list of affected flight attendants will be posted on the Crew Communication Centers in each crew base and on 'theHub'.

Furlough packets will be mailed on December 30, 2003.

AFA's position remains that a voluntary furlough must be offered before any involuntary furlough. A grievance will be filed shortly.

There are no plans for displacements through February although TDY remains a possibility.
