REDUCTION IN PHL FLYING

As you know, the Company has published a permanent Pilot bid that will eliminate the PHL 75/76 Domestic flying. The 75/76 Domestic Flying will be reassigned to CLT. The bid will add 25 lines to CLT in November and eliminate 40 PHL lines. The Company has shifted the flying to CLT in an effort to reduce pilot training, solve pilot staffing shortages and improve aircraft utilization. While those goals will be accomplished, the shift in flying has led to transfers that have consequences for our members. The CLT base has been closed for several years so, for some, the CLT vacancies are viewed as a welcome opportunity. For others, the reduction in flying in PHL will mean the loss of their lineholder status.

Neither AFA nor ALPA has any contractual rights that would leave the determination of flying to the Unions. This is an economic move based on revenue projections that will add to the Company's bottom line. The relationship between revenue and employee goodwill is strained at best within the new US Airways. This shift in flying is different than the proposed CLT displacement and PIT displacement. Neither the proposed CLT displacement nor the PIT displacements were the result of a Pilot bid. The CLT displacements were based on headcount numbers that upon "further review", prompted by the Union, proved to be inaccurate. A Pilot Bid actually moves time from one base to another and as a result Pilots and Flight Attendants vacancies move as well.

The initial increase of 25 lines and the 125 vacancies will be supplemented in December with additional lines and vacancies. The exact number is not known at this time and will be based on the actual Pilot bid and training resulting from that bid. The Company has stated that they are planning on additional 75-100 transfer vacancies for CLT in December as they will be able to build more than the initial 25 lines as the pilot training and staffing stabilizes.

The first round bids for 2008 vacation open on August 24, 2007.

The November transfer will be factored in the 2008 vacation matrix. For those Flight Attendants who transfer in November their vacation bid will based on their base of record for January 2008. The Union has been told the CATCREW vacation bid screen may still show the current base for Flight Attendants who have been awarded a transfer, but, the actual vacation bid will be processed using the new base of record

WHO STAYS ONBOARD?

On May 1, 2007, the merger training was completed and many of our procedures changed. One thing that did not change for East Flight Attendants was the procedure for the minimum Flight Attendant compliment (one-half rounded down) required to remain onboard the aircraft with through passengers. The East procedure remains the same- unless otherwise agreed to- the most junior Flight Attendant is required to remain onboard the aircraft with any through passengers.

ODAN ("ALL NIGHTERS") AND THE WEEKEND TRIP RESTRICTION

"All nighter" or ODAN pairings consist of one duty period. For the purposes of the weekend AIL restriction there is only one duty period that needs to be touched. See the following example:

ODAN PAIRING #9876 SATURDAY AUGUST 17

CLT-JAX 2150 - 2255 BLK 1+05

L/O 7+05

JAX-CLT 0600 - 0700 BLK 1+00

Although this trip works on both weekend days it is only one duty period. A Flight Attendant with this pairing who wishes to use the AIL to trip improve need only touch Saturday. There is no obligation to fly on Sunday and Crew Scheduling should not place a Flight Attendant who touches Saturday on the AIL for Sunday. An ODAN pairing that originated on a Friday night and flew on Saturday would fall under the same rule.

BRINKS SAFE

The Company has begun to install the Brinks safe system in the domiciles for the collection of liquor money. At times there may be a line at the safe or the safe may be undergoing maintenance. Flight Attendants are reminded their duty day ends fifteen (15) minutes after a domestic arrival and thirty minutes (30) after an international arrival. Since we don't work for free (at least not yet) Flight Attendants are not contractually required to remain on the property after the completion of their duty day in order to turn in the liquor money. The deposit can be made upon return to the airport for your next trip. Please continue to report any problems

JETBLUE AND FRONTIER RECIPROCAL CABIN SEAT AGREEMENTS

The Company has reached reciprocal cabin seat agreements with both JetBlue and Frontier Airlines effective September 1, 2007. Detailed polices and procedures for the agreements will be published this week. Along with Delta and Southwest we know have four carriers in the reciprocal cabin seat program and the Company will continue to pursue additional carriers. Thank you again for your response to the Reciprocal Cabin Seat Advocacy campaign. It was you who made the difference.

SINGLE AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS

The Company and the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) met last week in CLT. Three contract sections, Deadhead, Lodging and Union business were discussed however no agreements were reached. The East and West MEC are running a joint email advocacy campaign regarding 100% pay and credit for all deadhead flights. The West contract contains 100% pay and credit for all deadheads. There is no way we are going to agree to a contract that does not return 100% pay and credit to the East with no strings attached. It has been nearly two years since the merger was announced and the company has made over 800 million dollars in profit since January of 2006. It is likely that when the two year mark passes on September 27, 2007 the Company will have booked over 1 billion dollars in profit. It is time that a share of that profit be reinvested in the Company's number one asset-its' employees.

If you have not participated in the campaign you may do so by clicking on the following link:

The JNC will be meeting with the Company this week in PHX. I will publish a negotiations update at the end of the week.

Thank you,

Mike Flores, President
