Dear Members,
Changing Departure Times on International Transoceanic and
Non-Transoceanic International Flights
The Company and AFA agree that an IT and NTI duty day starts 90 minutes
(check-in time) prior to the scheduled or rescheduled departure time, ref
(12.B.1 - page 12-1). If a delay is incurred the company must relay the new
departure time to the crew before 90 minutes prior to the original departure
time or the clock has started for that duty day. After such notification of a
delay has been given the crew must be advised within 2 hours
during normal operations or 3 hours during irregular operations of the details
relating to the remaining duty assignment for that day or balance of the pairing
(9.H.1.a.3 - page 9-24).
Example: Flight 719 FCO-PHL scheduled departure time is 11:15. The crew must be
notified BEFORE 0945 of their new departure time in order to change their
check-in time. Example: Let’s say you advised the Captain at 0900 of the delay
involving his/her flight 719. The information related to the departure time or
what they are scheduled to do must be made by 11:00 during normal operations or
12:00 during irregular operations.
Let’s say Flight 719 FCO-PHL departing at 11:15 has a 3 hour ETR posted. The
crew needs to be notified BEFORE 9:45 of the new departure time because
otherwise they are on the clock and checked in. In this case, you contact the
Captain at 09:00 that a three hour delay exists and that flight 719 is posted
for a departure at 14:15. As a result of proper notification, the crew will have
a new check-n time of 12:45 and flight 719 will have a rescheduled departure of
14:15.
Now the ETR bumps to 1615: The crew must be contacted again BEFORE 90 minutes to
14:15. If you contact them at 12: 45 or later they would be on the clock and
checked in. In this case you contact the Captain at 12:00 that another delay has
been determined and that flight 719 is posted for a departure at 16:15. As a
result of proper notification, the crew will have a new check in time of 14:45
with a departure of 16:15.
