Dear Members,

SECURITY UPDATE

Beginning today, passengers and crew members, flying from the United Kingdom to the US will be allowed one (1) item of baggage as carry-on.

Under the eased restrictions, the carry-on may be no larger than 17x13x6 or the size of a laptop case. 

Laptop computers, cell phones, Ipods and like personal electronic devices are permitted in the carry-on bag.

The only liquids and other items permitted now are:

  • Milk, baby formula
  • Pocket sized wallets and purses including their contents (money, credit cards, identity cards) 
  • Travel documents essential for the journey (tickets, passports and visas) 
  • Prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight. Any liquid medication such as insulin. 
  • Eyeglasses and sunglasses but no cases 
  • Contact lens holders without bottles of solution 
  • Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight if unboxed
  • Solid lipstick (other cosmetics remained banned)
  • Tissues if unboxed and/or handkerchiefs 
  • Keys but no electric key fobs

Remember this is only for flights from the UK to the US.

Additional information

Movies/Headsets/Liquor

  • Headsets are complimentary for flights to LGW, Man and GLA. Additional headsets are being boarded.
  • Additional movies are being boarded. Start the movies immediately following the level off announcement and distribution of headsets
  • Flight Attendants may provide customers with one (1) complimentary alcoholic beverage. Announcements about free alcohol beverages should NOT be made.

Crew Bags

  • East Bound to UK
    • No Carry on restrictions for uniformed crewmembers, but be prepared for possible personal search at the departure gate.
  • West Bound from the UK
    • Crewmembers are permitted on small carry-on bag. The bag can contain a laptop, cell phone, ipod, books and essential job related items (flight attendant manuals, passports, ID's, wallet.) Liquids and gels are not permitted.
    • All other personal luggage will be checked and placed in the bulk bin prior to boarding aircraft. Upon arrival in the US the checked items will be delivered to the jetway or removed fro the aircraft first and placed in the baggage claim at the customs area.

Duty Free Carts

  • Duty Free Carts to LGW, MAN and GLA are being removed from the aircraft. They will be replaced with a cart full of additional water.

Duty Free Purchases with the Airport

  • Passengers are now allowed to make Duty Free purchases in the airport. These purchases will be delivered to the jetway and are not subject to the liquid/gel prohibitions. Duty Free vendors have been reminded to warn passengers with connecting flights that they will not be allowed to carry their purchases onto the next flight.
